The Canaries played hosts to Watford in a league game on Tuesday night hoping to get the win that would take them closer to the English Championship title but the Hornets had other ideas.

Watford secured victory by a lone goal scored in the second half courtesy Dan Gosling. Gosling is an ex-Everton and Bournemouth midfielder who was responsible for the only goal of the game on 57 minutes.

The win ensured that Watford moved to within five points of Norwich City with three games left to play in the English Championship this season. The Canaries need at least two wins and six points from the final set of matches to win the division.

Norwich City lost 3-1 at home to Bournemouth almost immediately after their Premier League promotion was sealed though they had to play the majority of the English Championship encounter with ten men after Greek defender Dimitris Giannoulis was sent off on 17 minutes. At that point, the Cherries were trailing to a fifth minute strike from Spanish playmaker Emiliano Buendia.

Sam Surridge started the fightback for Bournemouth in the second half. The Cherries scored all their three goals in that second half with Surridge scoring on 50 minutes. Arnaut Groeneveld scored the second goal seven minutes later to turn the game on its head before Lloyd Kelly wrapped up the win for the Cherries with 14 minutes left on the clock.
